Frequently Asked Questions

A Social Impact Assessment (SIA) is a detailed process used to evaluate the potential impacts, both positive and negative, of a proposed project/s, policy or development on people and communities.

It considers how planned changes may influence daily life, livelihoods, culture and overall community wellbeing.

The overarching goal of an SIA is to identify and guide projects in a way that reduces negative impacts and enhances social benefits.

The Millmerran Community SIA is for the community by the community.

It holistically considers the cumulative impacts of all known projects in the region, rather than assessing individual projects in isolation.

The Millmerran Community SIA was undertaken by an independent consultant.

Following a process set by the Queensland Government, individuals from each of the required stakeholder groups were invited to participate in one-on-one interviews.

In addition, the consultant contacted community members by phone and email to encourage participation in the SIA survey. While not everyone could be reached at that time, there will be opportunities in the future to participate if you wish.

The Millmerran Community Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation established by residents to act as a custodian of the Social Impact Assessment (SIA) and to oversee a community benefit fund.

The MCF is governed by five community members: Sheryle Rogers, Matt Clark, Graham O’Sullivan, Maria Oliver, and John Rogers. An independent Chair is currently being sourced.

The MCF operates independently under a transparent constitution, designed to ensure local interests remain central to decision-making.

The MCF provides a centralised, transparent way to manage funds for the benefit of the community. The MCF will be working closely with Millmerran Progress and Commerce Inc. to ensure that financial support reaches the community and contributes to a lasting legacy.

That’s wonderful news. We’re here to support you and can provide assistance if needed. We exist for the community, by the community.
